About the Alacri interface

Two links appear at the upper right and bottom center of most Alacri screens: “Return to Menu” and “Log Out”.

“Return to Menu” returns you to the primary screen of the Alacri interface, the Alacri menu. This menu offers you a streamlined way to quickly switch between different areas of Alacri, such as inserting an image or modifying your site’s text.

The “Return to Menu” link may also appear in dialogs from time to time.

“Log Out” logs your computer out of Alacri. This prevents others that use your computer from modifying your site with Alacri; we recommend using the Log Out function when you are using Alacri from a public computer, such as in a library or school.

Tip

If you prepare an update and then change your mind, or get interrupted and lose track of where you are, you can clear all of your changes and return to your starting point. To do this, click on “Options and Advanced Functions” and select “Reset Alacri”. Please note that you cannot reset your changes after they are saved. See Appendix 1 for more information on Options and Advanced Functions.

If you are interrupted, lose your Internet connection, or close your browser, Alacri will remember any content that you have previously prepared for updates; you do not need to upload this information again. In this case, the “Open My Site” option will not appear when you first log in to Alacri, as your Alacri session is still retained. You can continue to update your site, if you have more changes to make, or you can save your site. The “Save Your Site” tool shows which documents have been modified, if you are uncertain of which documents were changed before your browser was closed.

If you experience more serious difficulties, you may contact your Web developer or Alacri provider; you may also send a message to the Alacri staff through one of the following methods:

  • click on the “Alacri Support” link found at the bottom of each page to send an E-mail with your computer’s E-mail client

  • click on the “Options and Advanced Functions” menu and choose Message Center; send a message to your Alacri provider. For more information, see the “Message Center” section of Appendix 1.
